It was monsoon season, on a cloudy day, having treacherous pour all day we stepped out of our college , it was still dark, you know those kinds of days where its 5 o'clock but looks like 7. Somehow I took a jump over the puddle reaching out to my friends, I saw Cindy, Monnie and Precious walking a few feet ahead of me! The 3 girls were roommates and almost always stayed together, they had the sisterhood no one can actually understand. From a guy's perspective camaraderie is helping each other in the challenging way, guys always tend to give each other a hard time, we teach by teasing ,that's just our in built attitudes .
This doesn’t hold true for women though, they are much more of a supporting friend, the one who understands the flaws and strengths of their friends, the waves of moods that they go themselves and also be a part of with their girlfriends. Which I suppose was needed as an evolutionary advantage.
I believe women are radiant free beings that are the very epitome of freedom and love, the warmth you feel with a girl can never match that of a guy. Imagine being hurt and low on self confidence, and you don't have a shoulder to cry on or maybe someone to talk to, you go a guy friend and they start to preach, motivate you, encourage you to forget what happened, to be a man and “Suck it up". Or even worse they start making fun of you. Honestly you're a guy or girl , boys are not the one you can rely on for the emotional matters.
I yelled" Monnie! Wait for me!”
Monnie turned around, seems like they were discussing something . She said nothing, all of them stopped walking, I ran towards them keeping myself safe from the water on the ground.
I said” Hi! What’s going on ?!”
“Its good, prof. Galeki taught those supply demand theories you talked about earlier!”
monnie was my junior in the college, we’ve been friends from the college fest , monnie is a fun enthusiast among her other peers staying more with the seniors than her classmates, she worn those nerdy spectacles that enhanced her chubby round face , her curly hair were tied tightly into a ponytail and was walking on the edge of the road.
“Good! You understood the concepts?”
“Ya! After all you taught us first.”
Monnie and her friends had a good habit of asking everything and consulting with their seniors, that way they had an edge over other students who just kinda attended the college.
“I guess you’re the smartest senior they know.” Said Precious.
I chuckled “ Not as much as you" I tried to flatter her.
Precious was a sweet and simple girl, with a conservative family, she was bit on the dusky side but with shine on her skin and wore spectacles, she was an average student but had the skills in artistic works, quite an introvert.
“ So where you guys headed?” i asked.
“Going for marathon!” Said cindy sarcastically
“Shut up cindy!” said monnie in an annoyed tone.
Cindy was their roommate and senior to us all, she was a sarcastic short girl who was so brutally honest about her things, that it was border line insulting, her dark complexion, and short stature made her our little comedian that we had laughs with when making fun of others.
Cindy and i were good friends our acerbic natures clicked on our 1st meeting itself.
As it was a boring rainy day and we just finished our day at college we decided to have a cup of coffee near their flat and sat to have a chat.
Precious looked a little upset ,its not the first time ive seen her like this , she's one of those sensetive types, who take the world so seriously.
After chatting for a while and watching her not laugh at my jokes i asked her” Whats the matter?”
“Do you ever have a feeling, that the people taking away what's yours?”
I’ve known precious for 2 years now, we were good friends but it never escalated to deep conversations. I was a little startled by her question.
“What are you talking about?”
“Its something that happened in the class today.”
“What about it?” now i was a little more concerned than curious
“ Its Rebecca, she somehow always gets her way, weather it be studies or plays, or projects, or boys!”
Honestly i never even thought Precious thinks about guys, shes in love with one of my friends and they were pretty strong!
Becky on the other hand was a hot chick, all the guys at the college were fan of body, i mean she’s not a Ms. India but with our college's limited options she was gold. But that’s not it, she was also good at studies, a rich family to take care of her wants, and team of following bitches that kept her company. She was a teacher's favourite, winning competitions and getting business ideas for our college and students.
I thought she was sexy, too bad I hated her guts, she was annoying as fuck, maybe all that success and attention had driven her to be like this, but she knew who she was and was proud of it. Much too extreme.
Well...guys, if you ask me, are mesmerized by external beauty, it joins some wires, makes some circuit that lights us on fire, it is like those scenes in slow motion that we see in movies only in real life its our perception of time that gets delayed, and men do tend to give preferences to a pretty girl over others, maybe that's what bothers Precious .
“You have a boyfriend, what's ur beef with her?” I said
She looks me in the eye trying to suck my soul out “Its your guys mentality!”
Suddenly now it was an entire community that's on-line, girls have this tendency to blame it on the surrounding or situation all together .
“I’ve heard Aaron talking about her with his friends,he thinks she's hot and ‘ it wouldn't hurt to fuck her ‘ !!”
Oh! Shit just got real! Talking rubbish with our friends is one of the guy things, we really dont mean it, we're just joking around most of the times, ‘ like yeah any of us would get to fuck her!’
It sounded like 1 of such conversations but how am i supposed to convey this to her!?!
“ That’s why I don’t trust guys!” said Cindy
In her time in college she had 3 relationships and dumped all 3 of them for stupid reasons. Now she's trying to sound wise.
I Remain silent on her wisdom and go “ Hey! He must me joking, stop taking it seriously, he's yours"
“ You think like that all your life till 1 day your love leaves you for someone better”
This sent me into thoughts ,what if she was correct, but i was friends with Aaron...he couldn't score it with Becky.
“ Its true guys get flown with the appearances, she fits in the traditional standards of beauty “
“And whats that?” asks cindy.
“ You know the traditional sense of beauty what’s been taught in stories and movies. A tall, fair ,slim girl. That's all Rebecca!”
“that’s your mistake to think that a tall ,slim and fair girl is beautiful “
It took me a second to realise that out 3 girls i was talking to, 1 was fat, 1 was dark and other one short! Indirectly I was showing them theirs flaws ( so as to speak) .
I also realised that even though, ‘ traditional beauty ‘ is what attracts us the most , its only an armor to what's beneath, just like Becky if your beautiful only from out it may attract guys but won't keep them.
Eventhough, the ladies before me were just as flawed or imperfect they seem had their own unique qualities, that attracted another set people to them, one of their kind... So yes I got to beauty comes in tremendously various dimensions, and no words could define it.
